Match Report: VCF MESTALLA snatch late win against Nffc FC B (0-1)
oselu's last-gasp goal earned VCF Mestalla the win on Matchday 2 of the Premier League International Cup
VCF Mestalla’s head coach, Óscar Fernández, looked ahead to the upcoming away meeting in group III B of Segunda B at home to league leaders, UD Ibiza on matchday 14 at 12 pm at Can Mises.
"We're expecting a great game. We're up against the leaders, and what better place to go to bounce back and go in search of that win we've been struggling so hard to get? It's away to the leaders, a good game and the fans can watch on television. We're going to try to take the three points.
We're going to keep doing what we've been doing. We've been competing and picking up points. We are making a lot of mistakes, but we shouldn't get frustrated. What it makes us see is that we aren't there yet, but that we are on the right path. We have to keep working and continue to do the things that we've been doing well. Those that we haven't, we need to correct. The results are what they are, but whilst our Sundays are leaving us with a bittersweet taste, we feel that the team are dominating games and believe. They make mistakes, which is part of being young, but at the end of the day we're close to everything. We're going to a ground like Ibiza's, against the leaders who are doing a very good job and have been at the top from the start, and it's a good chance to bounce back from the game against them in the first half of the season and get revenge.
I don't like to focus on the past. I like to look at the everyday work. I think that Ibiza are top for a reason, and they have been very consistent. It's going to be a very difficult game. Every matchday is different in this league; teams who you think will win, don't, and vice versa. We need to go to Ibiza and take the three points, doing things very well. We can't focus on whether we are on a bad run or not. Every team who faces us thinks the same, then they play us and we gain their respect. They see that we are tough opponents. We need to continue like this, looking to be effective in the opposition box and improve our defensive showing. We need to keep growing, and make things difficult for our opponents in search of the three points".
